50¢ x Dadaism

50¢ x dadaism

This project is a jarring and unexpected combination of two things that shouldn’t go together: 50 Cent and Dadaism. It completely breaks grid systems, packed with experimental type, collage, and a loud, chaotic energy that still feels intentional. The whole thing leans into that raw, rebellious vibe—rejecting structure while making a statement.

I grew up with 50 Cent, so this project is just as much about personal connection as it is about pushing creative boundaries. It’s bold, unconventional, and honestly just my vibe.

Since this was a challenge of blending two distinct and well-established styles, I knew I needed to create a moodboard and a set of brand guidelines to ensure I wasn’t leaning too heavily toward one over the other. This helped me find a balance between 50 Cent’s bold, gritty aesthetic and Dadaism’s chaotic, experimental energy while keeping the design consistent across all pages.

I took a lot of inspiration from this iconic tweet 50 put out. I thought this would be a really great moment to add yet another jarring clash of aesthetics in this book. I really experimented with texture overlays in this project but this process really started after this page was finalized. Since the tweet mentions growing up, I wanted to include imagery of growing up in a way that was inspired from my moodboard.

I really wanted to play with the intensity of some of 50’s lyrics. While a lot of his music is playful and about partying, Many Men has always been one of my favorites. It’s raw, dark, and full of tension—about 50 Cent feeling like he always has people out to get him.

This project was such a fun way to merge two completely different styles. It came with a lot of exciting challenges, but finding ways to make them work together made the process even more engaging.
